Thanks to my friends and doctors I survived after cruel and inexplicable beatings. After three weeks of bed rest and an infinite number of injections and droppers, my attending physician allowed me to get out of bed and leisurely to develop the territory of the Central Military Hospital. My father brought to me an old soviet camera and expired vintage film produced in Ukraine many years ago and which I kept for another project. While I was learning to walk again - I began a new series of photos about my hospital routine. Half of the pictures have failed because the camera was always jammed and the film started to crumble and collapse. Like the time, in which "modern" Ukrainian medical institutions were stuck.
Suddenly, I realized: my physical state and the state of this old creepy camera is just the same as the current state of my country. Troubled, at times not functioning as it should, but in a desperate fight for its own survival, modernization, development. I thought, maybe that’s a struggle we’re in together: my country and me.
Despite the obstacles and risks with the photographs, I decided to buy more films, to continue the theme of uncertainty. The state that goes with me since I started a new count of "life after", I will learn about the physical and psychological consequences. The state, which occupies my country, together with the crisis, corruption and war, which are reflections of the old post-Soviet era, when all the fray because of the old, and if it turns out, it was only by chance or the efforts of people.
