This work was created for the 2016-17 YCN Student Awards. I chose to complete the brief supplied by The Grown Up Chocolate Company. Students were asked to create an original packaging design that the company could use for their new personalised chocolate gifts. Through my design I wanted to create a visual reference to the idea that the buyer can mix together a range different flavours, chocolates and treats to create a unique flavoured chocolate. Using the brand colours I created a swirl pattern in Adobe Photoshop to visualise the mixing of the ingredients. I came up with the slogan “A marvellous mix of your favourite six” to describe the users ability to select two chocolates and four toppings for their creation. I have faded this pattern on the cover and revealed a brightly coloured version through the title text, which carries on through into the inside packaging. The slogan “Nice try kid, but its not for you” is revealed on the edge of the tray when sliding the sleeve open. This pattern is something that can be used across a range of platforms and can by adjusted by changing colour and texture. My work was inspired by the marbling effects created when mixing together different colours of paint/ink and food colouring to make this two-tone aesthetic that I have designed. I think this works well as a packaging design and is something that will work alongside the artwork created by The Grown Up Chocolate Company. Read Less
