Mycoremediation is the use of mushroom to remove biological and chemical contaminates from soil and water.
For example, say you move into a new house and the previous owners used weed killer to prevent weeds and grass from growing. You can grow mushrooms in the soil and they will break down the contaminates and revive your soil.
Another example would be if you have a problem with animal waste, either from your own animals or neighborhood cats. The mushrooms can be used to remove the smell and toxins.
Mushrooms can also be used as a water filtration system to removed contaminates from water and make it safe to drink.
