As a project for the subject of Product Design, SPAL approach us to develop a trophy to celebrate their 50 year's anniversary.
Being the 50 years anniversary a big achievement, the theme revolved around this date. A date to celebrate. In these times, the hands are used to express emotions of celebration as clapping to commemorate something.
So the inspiration was taken in how the different positions that the hands can assume.
In the end of the process, the piece was 3D printed to better show the object to the client. Due to the printing restrictions, the object had to be cut into three different parts and assembled later.
This object can be used as a fruit bowl, as a piece to put candles or flowers.
Based on the history of the company, when three companies merged together to make what SPAL is today, the UNION is born. It was also inspired by the idea that together it makes everything stronger.
With the idea of three together are stronger, the sketches revolved around a module that could work individually or as a group.
This object is made by three identical pieces put together to form a bigger one.
Just as with the Celebrate piece, 3D printed pieces were conceived to show how the final piece would be. In this case the object was split into two elements to have it printed.
As an individual piece, it can be used as a jar for flowers or as a jug for drinks.
