To celebrate the upcoming Air Max Day, I teamed up with fashion blogger and street-wear genius Girl On Kicks. This project was in co-creation with NIKE. To me Nike is a brand that is all about empowerment, and pushing yourself to be the best you can be. But it’s not just about achieving your goals, Nike is also about having fun, hense why I wanted to focus on using language [in a tongue in cheek manner] to communicate the infamous air max, thought to many as not only a sneaker, but a culture within itself. When designing the series of prints I decided on simplicity so I could focus on the wording itself. I wanted to present a picture of ‘girl power’ for this series entitled #GIRLONAIR and also take inspiration from the idea of a running track, hence all the bold white lines in many of the prints, overall giving the series a sporty look. When it came to the slogans/wording, I wanted to produce something that defined most people’s thoughts and feelings towards the infamous Air Max, deciding on a combination of ready made power quotes mixed in with ordinary people's reviews on the classic kicks.. After all who doesn't like knowing what everyone else is thinking? In this case, it's all good in the hood.
