Self negotiated brief based on the theme 'dust'.
Concept/solution
I decided to focus on gold dust for this project. As a result of research I began discovering a lot about jewellery, diamonds and mines that these come from all around the world. I found the diamond trade of conflict/blood diamonds very interesting, especially because the majority of people will never truly know where the diamonds they have purchased or wear have honestly come from.
In response to this, I created a poster that emphasises this issue. I used diamonds to create the typography and a silhouette of Africa which is the most common continent for blood diamond mining. However, I used red coloured diamonds (representing 'blood diamonds') to highlight where these particular mines are actually situated. 'Where is mine?' questions which mine that your diamond jewellery has come from.
