Award TV Show Graphics

Motion graphics to accompany Hugo Award TV show. The overlapping, building of shapes were designed to add complexity and interest around an otherwise simple logotype. I chose a darker color scheme with hints of color in dark gray-pur- ples to emphasize the contrasting white letters and shapes, similar to the contrast of stars in the night sky. These pieces build up the scene in a way that should feel familiar to anyone who’s seen the vast and not-so-empty expanse of space, creating the sense of wonder and unknown we are familiar with in science fiction.

I started by doodling in class, building up shapes and lines until it starts to look like something. Then I opened up illustrator and started mashing up a bunch of ideas. These are the ones that influenced the final project.
