Vow Renewal symbolically depicts the renewal of two people’s wedding vows.  There are two butterfly necklaces to the lower left of the plate where they overlap each other as a sign of mutual bond. The larger butterfly shows a type of dark/heavy metal like tin or steel, which is a common material for traditional wedding gifts, while the smaller butterfly displays diamonds which represents a more modern approach. These materials prove that the anniversary is either the couple’s 10th or 11th anniversary.
The simplistic piece of wedding cake in the center is untouched, but sliced and ready to be eaten as a sign of starting anew. The plate is noticeably cracked and pieced back together signifying that there have been times of hardship in the couple’s lives but were later resolved. Additionally, the bundle of fabric that the items are placed on is a lacy bed skirt, representing a second honeymoon, as well as their general connection to intimacy.
