Travelers is a tv show about time travel, artificial intelligence and how far technology can and should go. We wanted to use this title sequence as a exploration of the dynamic between the AI and the people through the birth of the Director (the artificial intelligence) and the rise of the Faction (the people's rebellion).
As the machine turns on and circuits illuminate, we see the Director emerge. We enter the tunnel where these pins begin to grow, which represent the human lives being sent back in time by the Director. Eventually, one pin turns blue, representing the rebellion or the Faction, and soon others join in. The blue pins break off and form this more abstract organic shape which races towards the director back at the start of the tunnel, an act of rebellion.
