President Barack Obama's Farewell Reception Invitation
Creative Brief

Objective: Design and produce a unique invitation for the event of your choice.

The invitation was to be constructed in a manner that showcased die-cutting and gold-foiling techniques, as well as, the ability to construct he custom invitations out of the appropriate material for your event.

I took on President Barack Obama as my client, creating an invitation for President Barack Obama’s Farewell Reception. The goal was to produce a product inviting guests to celebrate the end of the 44th president’s term. The target audience was a select group of A-list celebrities and friends of the President and First Lady.

Conceptually, I aimed to maintain the sophistication of a traditional White House invitation, while commemorating the term of our 44th president and resolving any past and potential design issues. Upon opening the white envelope, the recipient is greeted by a die-cut sleeve of the iconic White House silhouette featuring intricate window and front facade detail. The rose gold of the minimalist invite with the signature of President Barack Obama is revealed, as the recipient removes the invitation from its sleeve. Opening the invitation, the recipient is greeted by a pop-up of the president himself facing the window of the Oval Office and a rose gold presidential seal right above the formal invite text. Tucked behind the invitation, awaits an RSVP card with a rose gold presidential seal that can be filled out and returned to confirm attendance.
