Written Present in the Past:
When Seoul had been developing indiscriminately in 1960’s,
Seongbuk-dong people who is powerless commoner renounced
their living foundation. ‘Seongbuk-dong Doves’ is a poet by Gwangseop Kim
that means Seongbuk-dong people.
Fifty years later, still Seongbuk-dong is dotted in Seoul.
Because Seongbuk-dong is a redevelopment area,
Seongbuk-dong people have to move out like as ‘Doves’.
I visualized 14 years (1997 to 2010) of the miserable reality
based on media reports about ‘redevelopment area’.
‘Seongbuk-dong Doves’ is a visualization art-book
while an information graphic. Some parts of graphic nibbles away
at the paper with poet, ‘Seongbuk-dong Doves’. It shows stray doves
because of development thoughtless for environment. This art-book
contains these information and shows with graphics: amount of news
about redevelopment, often spoken area with number of spoken times and
classification of area. Also I placed text, Gwangseop Kim’s poet looks like
Seongbuk-dong terrain in empty space.
