Traditional Hawaiian Voyaging
This illustration was done for the Ama OluKai foundation. It depicts a traditional Hawaiian sailing canoe navigating the open ocean. Early Polynesian voyagers regularly traveled vast stretches of the pacific guided only by the sun, the moon, stars, and other natural signs. This illustration commemorates the achievements of our ancestors and celebrates the continued perpetuation of these cultural practices today.
