Diesel DancePlanet
Student work

The brief for this project was to develop some design boards for a :30 second TV-spot to promote Diesel DancePlanet, a fictional EDM festival, organised by Diesel Jeans. In this spot the EDM vibe and the voice of the Diesel brand had to come together.

Final styleframes
EDM festivals are easily associated with flashy neon, glowstick and fogmachine images. Whilst Diesel doesn't shy away from artistic and unconventional imagery in their communications.
I've found a middle ground by keeping the content close to the experience of the EDM party-goer (although I'm not sure how many people would actually be wearing a mascotte-head to an EDM festival), and leaning a bit more towards the unconventional aesthetic by using a combination of illustrations and geometric shapes instead of photography.

Style explorations
Before landing on the final design style I explored some more abstract directions. The first mainly focussing on the visualisation of soundwaves with a highly textured overlay, making it almost feel like the soundwaves are moving through jeans. The second style is a more bold take on the same concept in a monochromatic aesthetic.

This work was created as a homework assignment for the Design Bootcamp course from School of Motion, Inc. All work is speculative, and created for educational purposes.
