Z LAMP
Z lamp is a desktop lamp that combines two types of materials of a totally different nature and brings them together in a single design.
The project was developed during the third year of my studies of Degree in Product Design. It was part of an activity in which the student had to design an object for its corresponding manufacture, with the unique objective that, only and exclusively, the material used was the metal, and optionally the wood.
CREATIVE PROCESS.
In a creative process in which the main material was bound to be metallic, it represented a great challenge. The language to be transmitted was clear: a different product from the rest of lamps and with a continuous design line.
The initial sketches represented simple and very conservative forms. The use of a large number of metal parts would cause the weight of the product to be damaged, therefore, the combination of the wood was a good ally to alleviate the final piece.
Total duration of design and manufacturing of Z: 9 weeks.
Hi, Z!
Z is the name that receives this desk lamp as its silhouette reminds the letter Z. It represents simplicity as a form and concept of flexo.
SILENT MECHANISMS.
The interior of the lamp has been designed so that the power cord is not visible in the Z body and, in turn, so the direction of light can oscillate on certain occasions.
Thanks to the rotating mechanism located at one of the ends of the lamp, the user can control the oscillation of the lightbar and once it is in the ideal position, close the mechanism.
DETAILS AHEAD, DETAILS BEHIND.
The details have always boosted the design of any product, enhancing its value and quality. In Z, all components are designed in detail. The power button located at the back of the piece is perfectly blended with the general character of the lamp.
The components responsible for providing light to scene are a system of LEDs located on the lightbar and illuminates a large work area.
