Welcome to Rio - We Are Together

I produced the first version of this design for the 2014 Football World Cup in Brazil in 2014. It was inspired by the BBC documentary called 'Welcome to Rio" which followed the lives of ordinary people from Rio's favelas. In the run up to the world cup the Brazilian government were trying to clear the favelas to improve the image of the country. This would however have left thousands of people homeless and destroyed communities; communities which lived by the mantra "Estamos Juntos", meaning, "We Are Together". The BBC documentary painted a positive picture of people trying to survive and make the best of what they have. I was very proud that that director of the documentary purchased several prints from me to present to the crew who worked on the show. 

I re-issued this design in 2016 to celebrate the Rio Olympics.
