VILLA “LE LAC” LE CORBUSIER
MACHINE À VOYAGER

The Villa “Le Lac” is one of the most important works of the swiss/french architect Le Corbusier. Designed for its parents in 1923, this “petite maison” demonstrates the genius of the one who would become the father of modern architecture. Today the house, recently listed as world heritage site by UNESCO, is also a museum that has the will to endure Le Corbusier's vision.
My School was asked to create a virtual concept around the house and transposed in a premium book. Because of the fact that Le Corbubsier used to call this house a “machine for living” and his father used to say that the building was designed as a purist train coach, i've imaged that it could become a “machine for traveling” allowing the audience to immerge in Le Corbusier's “Voyage d'Orient”. This journey being one the most important source of inspiration for the creation of his vision, it would help the audience comprehend his vision but also explain the importance of the ribbon window that was the result for the passion for landscapes that his father had transmitted to him. The book is then a collection of travel books, one for each destination, with all the elements that could have been collected: a transport ticket, a passport stamp, a sketch of Le Corbusier, a photography and a map (which would be the essential elements to start each journey).
