Rob's French Army House Truck

Rob's French Army House Truck
This house-truck was one of my most satisfying builds. It was built for my good friend, Rob and is the culmination of many years of dreaming, followed by a few weeks of designing.
This sketch sheet shows the limited plans I had to work with.
I milled all of the timber myself on a cranky old Lucasmill and it was all sourced from local and sustainably managed woodlands. The main frame is built from Larch and it is clad in Cedar of Lebanon which emits a wonderful aroma both inside and outside the truck. We used as many reclaimed items as possible in the build, including the door, windows and porthole. The truck is insulated entirely from local sheeps’ wool.
It is used as a painting studio and guest room. The space over the cab is utilised as a sleeping area while the rest of the space is adorned with comfortable chairs, a bookshelf, a woodburner and an easel.

The truck was later featured in, and on the front cover of, Tiny Homes on The Move - Wheels and Water, released by Shelter Publications.
