Friendship – A simple poetry about its importance. An importance that mankind has been pondering for millennia, exploring its meaning and putting itself in its highest degree on a pedestal. In the book “Amour de tête - realistic utopia or utopic realism” this form of human relationship is being illuminated and questioned on a partly fictional level of explanation, without claiming universal validity for its answers.
Aristotle said friendship is one soul in two different bodies. But how can one imagine this? If it exists, where is it located? How does the soul function? According to the ancient philosophy the interaction of sentient soul and reason leads to morality. Here in the sentient soul arise our emotions. Can these be the cause of friendship fractures, although they are supposed to protect us and help us to act wisely? Is everybody able to have a friendship? Is this a natural instinct that is anchored in our “we-consciousness”? Might it be possible that our social being is the one thing that makes us human?
