Breaking the Bleak
How dark do we need to go before we see the light?
These are a few photos from my new home: the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. I was born in Sofia and I've seen the city change diametrically over the last two decades. Most of all the people have changed. All their dreams and aspirations seem to have been drained away from so many years of 'transition'.

Despite the fact that these images don't reflect the reality of our vibrant city, they do reflect the mood of most of Sofia's citizens.

It made me wonder - how far into the abyss do we need to fall before we start to see the light again? I've always believed there's beauty to be found everywhere, even in the darkest of times, in the bleakest of emotions. With this little project I wanted to explore whether it is possible to find beauty in the darkness. I welcome your comments.
