LIFE OF A PRICKLY PEAR | CASE STUDY
This past year I met a really wonderful gal who was inspired to write a blog documenting her life as a young Mexican American woman and daughter of immigrants.  The more we spoke, the more we realized we had in common in regards to how we were raised, the struggles we have had to overcome, and the joy and pride of being Hispanic women.

THE INSPIRATION
SHE was very open to the creative direction for the artwork but knew she wanted bright colors, traditional styled Mexican attire and a little prickly pear cactus.
THE CONCEPT SKETCH
Her voice and message is full of love and peace and wanted to show that in her artwork.  I created two concepts, one a little stronger and maybe too aggressive (but worth a try), the second just right.
THE ROUGH SKETCH
After discussing the concepts with Her, I began planning out the full version concept and knew I wanted to stay true to Vogue Vignette by incorporating a swan neck.
THE ARTWORK
I decided to use Prismacolor markers and colored pencils for her rendering due to the high contrast and vibrancy of the pigment.  She is in her early 20's and is energetic and full of life and wanted those vivid colors to pull through in the artwork.  The artwork hasn't been posted yet to her blog but a link will soon follow.
