We are born in a social world structured by rules, regulations, and expectations that try to control our lives from beginning to end. Many of us allow ourselves to be affected by the restrictions we feel placed and keep our true selves boxed in. We begin to battle against letting go of our holds or remaining chained down forever. When we start to break free, our inner selves start to ooze out of us, and we start to truly become happy. When I make jewelry, I express my emotions during a current phase of my life in order to further my journey of self-identity. At the very moment, I am fighting to separate myself from the burden of letting social structures control me. I am departing from the flat walls of a box and taking on a loose, free form that allows my inner self to melt out from within my body. I hope that my journey shown through my jewelry encourages others to rid themselves of
personal restrictions and do what is necessary to become happy.
