Concept -
The idea behind this design is to give the user a sense of importance. People like interactions in their day to day lives. Some times the interactions are limited to just a greeting. This welcome mat is going to initiate that interaction with you. It is going to welcome you in different ways to create a playful interaction every time you come back home.

Working -
The welcome mat works on a very simple mechanism. The device is coded to trigger an audio file from a library every time the circuit is completed. There are two aluminium tapes connected with wires attached at the bottom of the mat. The aluminium tapes come in contact every time someone steps on the mat.
