Way Down South
Way Down South is an authentic Carolina Barbecue Restaurant in Oslo Norway, using local produce cooked with a southern heart. The focus of the project was to create a space that looked "Rustbelt Chic" and expressed a feel of being weathered and authentic.
Main materials used in the space where brick, concrete, wood and steel, with limited use of colors.
Hand painted wood boards, wall murals, and various hand painted signs.
Custom chalk board menu and smaller street signs.
The restaurants sign was produced over 4 weeks on tedious handcrafting, alternating between shaping, painting, rusting, sanding, painting, rusting, and so on. The result is a beautiful sign that gives an authentic and almost antique look.
