Canyoneering Adventure
A guided hike-thru, crawl-thru, intense physical training experience
Waveyard's Canyoneering Adventure was part of the extreme sports collection to be at the Waveyard Park in Mesa, Arizona. The Project team for the design was Jennifer Kruise, Richard Mladick, Jeffrey Gustin and Myself. Jennifer asked me to work on the storyboards for the attraction. We called-in a professional canyoning guide to consult on what types of experiences were needed to be a complete adventure. He gave us pointers and recommendations on jumps, swims, slides crawling and climbing that would be needed.
I then went out with my Boy Scout troop to Jug Canyon , near Phoenix, Arizona. An hour and a half away at the foot of a desert hill. a true oasis creek in the desert. The boys and I learned from an experienced guide first hand what it took for a canyoning experience.
The next research was to go caving near Oracle, Arizona (South of Phoenix). What dangers and saftey precautions were needed to have a thrilling time in a clastrophobic place.
I took these experiences, time on the internet, and the professional guide's lessons and carved out the story boarded experience below. starting from the meet and greet at the mouth of the canyon, hiking thru slot canyons, repelling into slots, swimming under log jams, sliding down waterfalls, caving, and zipline finally.
Unfortunaly as budgets get cut, so do innitial attractions. Thus ended the Canyoneering Adventure.
