Open Data Day 2017
As a part of the worldwide Open Data Day, I met up with a bunch of other fantastic freelancers, movers, and shakers, in the Niagara region and learned about the various types of data, and how to analyze it. We reviewed Canadian census data, and learned the best methods to analyze it, including software platforms like Tableau.
After a fantastic free lunch, I sat down with one of the publicly available data sets from niagaraopendata.ca and got to work on a 3 hour project; imagining, developing, and designing a project to show suggestions of various wineries to visit in the Niagara region, from the Winery dataset.
Coded in straight PHP, CSS, HTML, and Jquery, it's a simple project that does a simple task: bringing wine suggestions to the wine-loving people of Niagara.
