Chanda.. Champa.. Chameli..
Chanda.. Champa.. Chameli..
This is a concept by Revati . She's a Designer based in Pune. Interestingly, a few years ago, she worked with a Masterjee (tailors are also called as 'masterji' in India), who's talents went beyond tailoring. He would cite Khayaam and Ghalib when he was working, and oftentimes he'd share his own philosophy. One day she walked into the workshop all dolled up and he was prompted to say, "Mashallah! Madam! Yeh humari duniya ghosht ki bhookhi hai. Khair badan toh ek din jaana hi hai. Lekin ye duniya rooh bhi nahin chodti aaj kal. Apna rooh sambhal ke rakhiye madam, aapka rooh bada nazuk hai, aur yeh duniya badi zaalim hain." Translation: "Our world lusts for body. However, it is transient, but people dont even spare the soul these days. You have a innocent soul, keep it safe."
Recently she came across Anais Nin's work, an author who used to write erotica for survival during the 1940's. She was appalled first, then intrigued. How could this woman have agreed to write erotica merely to sustain herself? And how mindfully she'd delivered on a topic that is so easily judged as inelegant.  This was her inspiration for this concept.

This story is about a day in a sex worker's life. A page from her own diary.
The day starts off with a scuffle with the man who runs the place. She then runs off to her friend, an eunuch. She consoles her and eventually they forget everything and have a good time. The day ends with arrival of her customer, also a friend, a writer who finds solace at her place.
