BLIND // Pop-up Shop

The brief required us to design a unique ONE-OF-A-KIND product and expand it into a pop-up shop. We had to focus on one single product and make it unique. The pop-up shop would be a haven for people with a passion for a certain kind of activity or indulgence. We had to come up with a unique concept for our one-of-a-kind branded pop-up shop. Ultimately the idea was about the consumer’s engagement and interaction with this product and how the environment of the pop-up shop reinforced this user experience. We had to emphasize the uniqueness of our product through our brand communication.
was about designing for the blind and adding value to their lives. My pop-up shop turns the tables onto people who can see by making the typography difficult to see and read, illustrating the act of not being able to see. The product I focused on was braille books; all braille will be printed in colour to illustrate how this is the way blind people technically "see", as well as showing how these books brighten their lives. The pop-up shop will be designed purely for the blind as these people are often forgotten about or not even considered when designing products.

Colour palette
Logo design - (In white and embossed illustrating the action of feeling braille)
Mock-up of swing tags - logos embossed
The swing tags
Each colour represents a different genre of books
Back of the tags - The coloured blocks contain braille
Each book is wrapped in braille embossed card and held closed with white suede string
On the reverse side of the card it says "with love" in braille
No books have illustrated cover designs, but are purely represented in their
genre's colours. This is to further emphasize designing purely for the blind in mind
Promotional gift - A set of cards that can be played by people who are blind as well as people with sight
The playing cards
User friendly playing cards
