University Design Work

These cartoon characters were created for a marketing assessment. I worked in a team of 5 to create a brand and a product that would be sold at two real-world market days. We were given a high distinction for our efforts within the unit and the characters were a hit with the families at the market!
This document depicts my rationale for a sun safety website I built during my second year of study. I undertook a beginners unit in web design and was required to develop a website that would engage with children between the ages of 4 and 7. The website included a sun safety game and several characters that acted as the audience's friends.
I worked in a team of four to create a book cover for the novel "The Shadow of the Wind". The book is centred around a fictional author named Julian Carax. It follows his journey to destroy every book he ever published. We experimented with torn and scrunched pages of the book within the studio and explored the use of shadow using photography. We utilised tools within Adobe Illustrator to create this bold image. We found that we could not achieve our desired level of contrast by using photography alone.
I created this e-magazine cover for a group project within one of my core Creative Industries units. Our task was to come up with a creative project that could be implemented within the QUT community. We chose to create an e-magazine that discussed important issues and information relating to Creative Industries students and graduates. We also generated a concept for an installation to be erected within the gardens at QUT which advertised a QR code, directing audiences to the e-magazine webpage. We wanted the e-magazine to be edgy and stand out from the crowd of other university publications. This cover symbolises the creativity and energy of the QUT Creative Industries community while using the CI Faculty's key pink colour.
This is a set of images I have created in my spare time at university by following online tutorials. I am particularly fond of the last image, which was originally a photograph (the photo can be viewed within my photography portfolio section). To achieve this outcome I altered the colours within the image and pushed the pixels around to create a painted effect.
This logo and package design was created in Illustrator for a fictional product called Youkey. The product was a bangle that stored key information and passwords, allowing fast login to technology devices and websites. The package design had an inner box that slid out from the outer. The outer box had holes in the white areas of each fan symbol, which meant you would see the pink, grey and black lines shifting through as the inner box was pulled out. The design aesthetic was inspired by the Art Deco period and the colour scheme was used to create brand associations of luxury and femininity.
