Work description: The mental and physical violence that many women are forced to undergo every day, victims deprived of their freedom and serenity, is represented in this woman's face. Her eyes seems to cry out for help but indeed she doesn’t say anything because she is oppressed and deprived of her dignity. While the eyes seem to fully describe this psychological violence, her face, gaunt and scarred, represents the physical violence and humiliation that this woman had to suffer from a man who has denied the respect that a human being deserves. Unfortunately, violent cases against women have become a recurring everyday theme that we hear about but they are ignored resulting in the silence and impotence of a destroyed dignity.

Author name: Trevin Wyant
