I have loved cats of all types and sizes since I was a small girl, but the big cats have a beauty that can't be compared in my mind. This project will consist of charcoal studies of all of the big cats, beginning with the four technical big cats of the world, The lion, tiger, leopard and jaguar.

I hate to be cliche, but lions have long been my all-time favorite animal and subject for symbolism in artwork. For this, I made a study of a photo I enjoyed. I have been looking for a good photo of a roaring lion, since contrary to popular belief lions do not open their mouths wide when roaring. I can imagine a good amount of those fearsome snapshots out there are in fact pictures of lions yawning.
