Logo + illustrations for Perepepé, concerts for kids
Developing a concept, logo and a coordinated theme for Perepepé, a series of concerts aimed to kids. It's a sort of edutainment, the core idea is involving kids in "big music", the music made for the adults, in a playful enviroment. Perepepé payoff reads something like "little concerts for growing ears". The color palette is playful but not too loud.
First poster for The Magic Flute concert, based on the work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The illustration is a joke on the main character of the play, a cockatoo named Papageno, wearing the stereotypical 1700 wig. We used the logo color palette on the text, mixing the colorful one with a plain palette of shades of grey. We used a mix of fonts inspired by vintage typography, exploiting the contrast between the playfulness of one font and the sobriety of the other.
The second poster is for a concert on the traditional music of the people that live around the Mediterranean Sea. The core of the play is a message of acceptance, cohesion and understanding of a common heritage and a shared humanity. At this time we find the red thread of the concerts in their recurring host, Cristiano Callegari, the creator of Perepepé. So I made a cartoon version of Cristiano that we're going to use as a common theme on every poster, dressing in clothes related to the music genre of the concert.
The third poster is a Christmas concert in a farm with singing animals.
The fourth poster is for a concert on Alessandro Rolla, a famous italian composer and violin virtuoso.
When I started working on the sixth poster on the traditional tale of the devil at the crossroad and the gift of the guitar in blues music, I used this tale for inspiration for the theme of the double, of an evil side that is already in us, we have to accept it and sometime embrace it.
For the latest poster I had to develop two more characters, the other two musicians on stage. It's still a folk concert, but this time is set in a circus during the Great Depression. I used as an inspiration the HBO serie "Carnivale", minus the depression and the grittyness.
