Eka
For Atelier Ryberg and designer Charlotte Ryberg every design concept is looked upon as a story, a moment in time. This situational approach, reference to traditions and/or memories, and visual coherence are the key values of the practice. In this piece I wanted to highlight the exhitement and curiosity I experienced as a child looking into my great grandma's cabinets at her seaside cottage. It opens up to reveal an image of the sea. The cabinet can be used as a bar cabinet, to store table games and books or LP-albums or other miscellaneous personal stuff you like and want to keep near. Eka is Swedish for a classic wooden rowing boat, hence the clinker built front. The slightly assymetrically cut front, highlights the moment you open up the closed front revealing the dark and endless sea.
