YCN Competition Brief: BEAR yoyo cards.

The Brief: BEAR is a company that produces healthy fruit snacks, primarily aimed at children aged four to nine. Their yoyo snacks come with fun, collectible cards, to make them more appealing to the target audience. The brief was to come up with the theme for a future set of collectible yoyo cards. The theme had to educate children in a fun way.

The Problem: Although 80% of children find the current yoyo cards fun, a third of them don't bother to collect the cards. In addition to this, the current cards are too busy and text heavy. Children, especially at the younger end of the target audience, will not read all of the information and are therefore missing out on the educational aspect of the cards.

The solution: I chose to go for a 'Monster Hunt' theme, which teaches children about mythical creatures from all different cultures. In order to encourage children to collect, they must find both parts of each creature on separate cards to discover what it is. They can then collect the cards in a book and discover creatures as they go.
