The essence of music allows the soul to disintegrate and transcend to a higher state of being.
Classical music is a conversation of love spoken in syllables of purity and reflection. Bengal Foundation wanted to revive the love for classical music in the hearts of the people and launched Bengal Classical Music Festival in 2012.
To visually encapsulate the essence of the festival in 2015, a symbol was chosen – the statue of a musician sitting at peace, his hands liberating the tunes from his Tanpura.
We took this form as the core seed to develop the graphic device of the Bengal Classical Music Festival in 2015.
The concept was to visually showcase the unraveling of the soul, pierced by the powerful, uplifting and euphoric waves of music as the lover and the beloved becomes one.

An algorithmic/generative system based on 'Raga' was developed in-house for this. Through that application, we generated different actions of the 'player' for various types of 'ragas' by different musicians performing at the event. The lighting of the statue reflected the different times of the day/night when a particular 'raga' is played. For each musician & their respective music, the design was different each time.
