Art publication for the exhibition Dalí Dalí featuring Francesco Vezzoli
In this project one of the design challenges was to make different kind of book about Salvador Dalí compared to the many publications about him available. We wanted this one to be slightly decadent combining gold, natural toned uncoated paper and glossy plate sections. For the cover we used a straightforward approach with two portraits on either side printed in black on shining gold. Inside we used page numbers in roman lettering and typesetting inspired by the organic shape in Dalí’s melting clocks.
This catalogue turns out to be Moderna's best selling catalogue all times and was at the opening presented as ”the most beautiful catalogue of Moderna Museet in 20 years” by the Museum Director Lars Nittve.
