Painted Levi's Jacket

I received an amazing opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind art piece, painted on the back of Levi's denim jacket! Below you can get a sense of my process from sketching, to testing paints on fabric and a short video of me at work.
I always begin experimenting with new pieces on paper.
I loved collaborating with people who get and respect the process of creating artwork. I was so happy to be able to offer my sketches and color samples as part of the final presentation of this jacket.
Layer of white paint and outline of art. I'm testing my new Posca Pens and loving them!
Since this was my first time working on denim, I took a trip to my local Jo-Ann Fabric store to grab a piece of fabric to practice on. This was also my first time working with Posca Markers which I LOVE, tell you more about those below!

I laid down 3 layers of white paint on the test fabric, on the final I did about 6-8 layers to be safe. I wanted to make sure the color would be vibrant when I painted on the final image.
Posca markers are pretty darn fantastic, in this girls opinion. They dry within a minute or two of being applied. Once the paint dries you can easily paint over dry paint. The markers blend beautifully as well but it's probably better to have a tool on hand to help with that, I used my hand and Q-tips for this draft.
I am definitely not an expert at creating videos of me while work is in progress. I will work at this but I still wanted to include this clip because you can still see quite a bit of work getting done. Will continue to perfect my technique when it comes to filming.
This is just a little snap shot of my studio space where all the magic happens.
This jacket is still a work in progress, but I will definitely share pictures when it is done but I will for sure be working on more jackets in the near future.
