I received an amazing opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind art piece, painted on the back of Levi's denim jacket! Below you can get a sense of my process from sketching, to testing paints on fabric and a short video of me at work.
Since this was my first time working on denim, I took a trip to my local Jo-Ann Fabric store to grab a piece of fabric to practice on. This was also my first time working with Posca Markers which I LOVE, tell you more about those below!
I laid down 3 layers of white paint on the test fabric, on the final I did about 6-8 layers to be safe. I wanted to make sure the color would be vibrant when I painted on the final image.
Posca markers are pretty darn fantastic, in this girls opinion. They dry within a minute or two of being applied. Once the paint dries you can easily paint over dry paint. The markers blend beautifully as well but it's probably better to have a tool on hand to help with that, I used my hand and Q-tips for this draft.
This jacket is still a work in progress, but I will definitely share pictures when it is done but I will for sure be working on more jackets in the near future.
