This project involved designing and producing a multi-dimensional soundscape with one of the videos provided. With the exception of having to choose a 2 1/2 minute sequence, I was not allowed to edit the original video footage. I was limited to only using sound from copyright free websites and I had to incorporate found dialog, sound effects, and ambient sounds and music. I chose the video entitled "Urban Scape" because it wasn’t overly abstract and it just had a feel and flow that I liked and connected with. Immediately after watching it I knew I wanted to include sounds of a hip and jazzy nightclub. To me, jazz is synonymous with the sound and feel of nightlife in an urban city. I also sought out ambient sounds that matched what I saw (water drops, rain, wind). I used a calm yet mysterious piece of music that started to build as the image transformed to different views of the city. I also added some unique sounds such as windchimes, breaking ice, and a beating heart for symbolic purposes.
