Book based on a novel of belarusian writer Uładzimier Arłoŭ «Genius loci». In my book I used fragments of the novel. Genius loci – is the protective spirit of a place, that takes care for a location's distinctive atmosphere and nostalgic memories of the past.
This is a love story, a story of a couple. The history of their relationship is completed with childhood memories and conversations with a nonexistent interlocutor, it also contains surrealistic elements, flashbacks and puzzles. The action takes place in an unusual cafe, that is closely related to the love story of the main characters. Besides them, there are many different characters, each of whom has their own eccentricities and mysteries from the past.
The book was designed especially for this story. The book has been printed on high-quality paper and hand-made in two copies. It is written in two languages: one side is in Belarusian (the original version of the text), the other side is in French. The way it is designed enables reading over and over again and discovering new details and meanings of the text and illustrations.
