From a centipede to a submarine
The aim of this project was to create a machine inspired from an insect or an arthropod. I chose the Chinese red headed centipede. I studied its properties and its attributes.
After studying the natural subject I moved on to study man-made machines. I found the twin blade motors particularly interesting.
I came up with the concept of making a submarine whose propellers are segments of the body itself which move like the twin blade motor. The whole structure of the submarine is modular. each segment can detach from the main body and operate on the land, the water or air.
This is a 3d model of the submarine which can be animated to show its movements.
