Edentopia is the new weekly plantable newspaper about gardening and plants targeting young professionals readers. Our main readers are urban-living, plant-lover, natural, and art-oriented that have a craving for an edited and inspiring contents. Our mission is to inspire the new lifestyle of indoor gardening that entertains people and boosts up their creativity.
In fact, there are many gardening magazines, not newspapers, and most of them do not provide the practical experience to the readers and influence them to start planting. That is the reason why Edentopia aims to offer the original and enjoyable reader experience. After reading our newspaper, you can grow the small houseplant by putting the crumpled newspaper in the pot and take care of it daily based on our instructions. The seeds would be different on every issue.
Visual effect
With duotone and halftone effect, we create the new observation of fresh and natural attraction of Edentopia. The overall look is simple, organic and environmental forming the accessibility to welcome the readers to enjoy the issue. Furthermore, the reduction of inks in printing also shows our consideration of environmental protection. We also play with different color layers and botanical close-up photos to reveal the tree layering leaves as well as the depth of the design. The contemporary and distinctive style of Edentopia also attract their readers to enjoy highlighted contents.
Edentopia needs to maintain the basic functions of the newspaper: promote the contents and increase the readability. That’s why we construct a flexible grid that can contain the copy-heavy articles but still give enough space for different interesting elements. Additionally, Edentopia has to feature the exclusive style that easily engages with the readers and satisfies their curiosity while flipping through the newspaper. The composition of every page breaks the basic grid to excite the attention of the readers.The dynamic grid also expresses the playfulness and creativity required by our target audience.
