Coccolle Kanaiwa was created as a basement of the area near the sea and a harbour by Kaga Corporation what is a traditional construction company in Kanaiwa Kanazawa, Japan. People who live around there and come for travel or something will visit it to touch new and rooted life in Kanaiwa.
Kanaiwa area had been lived from above 1300 years ago. I thought that Coccolle should seem to have been strong against sea. The people had lived in there to use various tools and accumulate their knowledge. So I designed the indentity from the rope which become the symbol of them. The rope is a old useful tool and appears the physical and mental linkage around Kanaiwa.
Visitors can enjoy comfortable time and eat delicious miso-soup that staff make in a gracious way, buy clothes for kids and Japanese good tea Kanaboucha. Coccolle Kanaiwa will let them know the air of new age from tradition.
Coccolle Kanaiwa was selected as shortlist of Craft/Art Direction in Design by The One Show 2017.
