Situated on the site of the former Channel 7 television studios in Perth’s northern suburbs, Seven Hills is a land development combining the heritage of an iconic Perth institution with contemporary living. In a premium location on one of the highest points in the metropolitan area, the Seven Hills brand needed to take this rich history into a whole new residential story. Our solution; create a fully-integrated brand that celebrated its uniqueness. We raised expectations of ‘standard’ land estate design, creating a fully-integrated brand with sophistication and style. The logo was inspired by the designs of a TV test pattern – signifying the close of one broadcast and the commencement of another. A minimalist palette of black, white and silver reflected the historic ‘silver screen’ and the premium nature of the estate, while contrasting against the vibrancy of the modern lifestyle on offer. The brand extended throughout all print collateral, online applications and signage strategy. The sales brochure was loosely based on the design of a 1959 television set when the first broadcast commenced. Its pagination was structured like an edition of the nightly news – from the initial “Good evening and welcome”, through the latest news, lifestyle and sport. The weather map even acting as the estate’s location map. The interior of the sales office was set up like a suburban living room where visitors could sit and relax on sofas whilst taking in all the sights of Seven Hills. Multiple wall-mounted TVs, all doubling as touch screens and completely interactive, delivered the latest sales and estate information. On-site signage used light trussing and rigging like old set designs as support structures, extending the brand experience on the ground. With clever use of application and unique styling, Seven Hills estate has lifted the bar of ‘standard’ land estate design in Perth, creating a sophisticated brand that reflects the unique history of the site, while celebrating its future.
