Card Sorting | User Research/Testing

The problem
Understanding how to navigate the platform

As part of the team developing a new deals website, it became clear that the broad target audience was creating difficult in understanding how best to navigate the website
My role
Organise and facilitate card sorting workshop

I suggested a card sorting workshop to help deliver some understanding and insight into some of the categories a wide audience may use to search and browse online products. I organised a group of 42 participants into small workshops where I facilitated the card sorting and gathered the results over a half day period.
The results
Informed data on navigation structure

We gained insightful data that helped us to categorise products, label the navigation bar and understand user search behaviour. I performed the workshops in small groups of 3 as I wanted to provoke discussions as I observed them to gain qualitative data, but this proved difficult to record across the afternoon as I hadn’t planned in enough time to in between sessions so gathering results became rushed.
