'She Is JOY'
This is an observational portrait piece of my friend and classmate, Yasmin.
Similar to many of my other works, this piece was also created under a broad theme dubbed ‘Feminine Attributes’. In this piece, I aimed to use the portrait to portray the vibrant and lively nature of the female spirit. I also used vibrant colours within this painting to further emphasize the ideas of effervescence of the female.
This painting was made for submission for my IB Visual Art HL course and contributed towards my end of semester grade for June 2016.

'Cover Up'
Done as part of my final IGCSE Coursework, this was my response to the prompt ‘Cover Up’.
It was an imaginative piece as well as an observational as I created this piece using inspiration from images from internet sources and observational drawing of flowers I had observed within my immediate environment.

'She Is POWER'

This is an observational portrait piece of my friend, Melody. However, it was inspired by other images depicting strong African women. Within this piece I explored the idea of females being powerful creatures. I superimposed the portrait on an adaptation of the Akan Adinkra symbol, ‘Adinkrahene’, which directly translated to ‘King of Adinkra’ and is mean to convey the idea of power and authority. This was significant to the female attribute I hoped to convey with this piece and was done to emphasize the idea of female commanding authority. This piece was done as part of my end of year assignment for my IB Visual Art HL course.

'Ewuraba'
This is a piece I created as part of an individual investigation into Traditional African masks and how they were worn and used as a means of honouring and empowering people. Using the inspiration from the masks I decided to create this mask-like piece using different African print fabrics which had their individual meanings/interpretations as a means of empowering young African women.
'Her Care'
This an  image I took as part of an individual project on natural African hair. With the series of images I took I hoped to portray the intricate and intimate nature of hair care, particularly natural African hair.
'Obaa Pa"
‘Obaa Pa’, directly translates to ‘The Good Woman’, from the Akan traditional language of Twi.
A theme explored some of my other works is that of “Feminine Attributes” which, for me, were used to express and explore the many characteristics and traits I believe every female/woman possesses.
Similarly, this piece was created to portray the idea of femininity. Obaa Pa is a fusion of several Adinkra symbols, each of which symbolised an attribute (such as bravery, wisdom, faithfulness etc.) that i believe all women, especially African Women possess. Obaa Pa was inspired first, by Traditional Akan Adinkra Symbols and then by a piece entitled Woman is Key by Ghanaian artist Ken Gwira.  With the creation of Obaa Pa, I hope to portray to audiences the multifaceted and unique nature of African culture women.

'Puzzler'
This was a fabric design I created in Adobe Illustrator using puzzle piece shapes. This piece was a part of an individual project and was inspired by the ‘Woman is Key’ symbol created by Ghanaian artist Ken Gwira. For this pattern I was attempting to portray the significance of women as a vital factor in the success of society, hence the use of a puzzle piece.
