Charlotte Hambling, R&R UK Head of Marketing, said, "Enjoying an ice cream is a time-honoured holiday tradition, but it is being threatened by seagulls!
"We wanted to invent a way for people to preserve the special moment of satisfaction as they hold their cone and savour a taste of summer."
"The device might never make it into mass production, but we were delighted to be working with students from the Sustainable Product Design course at Falmouth University. They're extremely talented, imaginative and have a great sense of fun."
Charlie Clarke's idea, 'The Ice Cream Protector, Seagull Deflector,' was developed and built with Elliot Lunn and other students from Falmouth University.
He said, "We enjoyed the challenge from Kelly's on this project. Our design is not just about avoiding hungry birds, we also wanted to capture the distinctive moment when you take your first lick of ice cream – it's almost like you're royalty!"
