FOEtuS:
A painterly reaction to one of my favourite music videos, 'Je Te Rends Ton Amour' by artist Mylène Farmer. Approximately at the end of the video, the singer rests in a pool of her own blood in the fetal position, signifying a brutal, yet freeing rebirth and escape from lies, bigotry and hate. The video is rich in religious iconography and has a significant gothic and gory feel. The watercolor here was treated exactly as a pool of blood that reveals a blurry image of a foetus. This is rebirth and escape from the enemies of humans (lies, bigotry and hate), a rebirth which is difficult and not without struggle.
Watercolor on Fabriano paper (29.5 x 21 cm).
