This was a comprehensive project that involved creating a diagram, timeline, catalog, map, narrative, and physical container for a single object. My selected object was a bag of chai tea.
I created a giant tea bag complete with a tag to house all of the components of my project.
Below is part of the interactive map that I designed. Instead of a typical geographic map, I decided to do a map of the human body and the effects of chai on its various parts. The key in the upper right corner are buttons, that when selected highlight the benefits of that ingredient.
This catalog highlights the research that I did on the various types of tea. Each page represents one main category of tea and on it there is a pocket containing cards with information of some of the varieties of that tea.
Instead of a typical linear timeline, I designed a circular timeline of the annual growth cycles of the ingredients in chai. This timeline also includes the average temperatures and rainfall throughout the year in Kolkata, India, which is the birthplace of chai.
This diagram highlights and measures everything about the chai tea bag as well as its contents.
I wrote and illustrated this (dramatized) narrative based on the growing and preparation practices of the cardamom plant; an ingredient in chai.
