Music has always been one of my favorite things because of its ability to bring people together, and it's ability to act as an outlet to express feeling through sound. My last semester of college, I took a creative writing class where we were required to write a short non-fiction story about anything. I wanted to write about memory, and the way we recall memories through music. Especially since I had realized that I forgot how my great grandmother's voice sounded, but remembered the music she used to play in her house.
This piece stems from that idea of forgotten memories that resurface when we listen to certain songs.
Music is the time machine we haven't invented yet.
