GENERATION STARTUP
Inspired by young people taking risks and building companies, Creative Breed conceived and produced this feature documentary following recent college graduates launching startups in Detroit, funded by PwC Charitable Foundation and UBS. We then crafted and executed a strategic distribution plan and created the film’s marketing, branding and social media. After seeing GENERATION STARTUP, viewers feel inspired to move outside their comfort zone and work hard to build something meaningful like the film’s subjects do. 
THE FILM
GENERATION STARTUP captures the struggles and triumphs of six recent college graduates who put everything on the line to build startups in Detroit. Shot over 17 months, it’s an honest, in-the-trenches look at what it takes to launch a startup. Directed by Academy Award winner Cynthia Wade and award-winning filmmaker Cheryl Miller Houser, the film celebrates risk-taking, urban revitalization, and diversity while delivering a vital call-to-action—with entrepreneurship at a record low, the country’s economic future is at stake. 
REACHING A WIDE AUDIENCE
Since conventional documentary distribution is broken, we were entrepreneurial and strategic in order to achieve wide reach, assembling a team of top experts to help us execute our self-distribution. 

Theatrical: We released GENERATION STARTUP theatrically in NY, LA and Detroit in fall 2016 to drive national press and buzz. This provided the launching pad for robust demand for event screenings across the country following our theatrical release. 

Event Screenings: We have done hundreds of event screenings around the US. Major corporations, venture funds and startups are booking the film for internal team building around innovation, risk-taking and diversity. Companies, nonprofits and universities are organizing public events to bring together communities around the film.

American Film Showcase: GENERATION STARTUP is being shown around the world as part of this highly selective program through the State Department and USC Film School.
BRANDING & MARKETING
Creative Breed has been the driving creative force behind the branding and marketing of the film. We oversaw the creation of the film’s poster and created the film’s trailer in-house, released on iTunes in August 2016. We also built and maintain the film’s website.
SOCIAL MEDIA 
Creative Breed has spearheaded GENERATION STARTUP’s successful social media campaign, including the strategy, creative execution and ad buying, achieving our three primary goals: 1) to increase awareness about the film; 2) to drive ticket sales and event bookings; 3) to create community and uplift around the themes of entrepreneurship and risk-taking.
