Sachsen was designed as an identity type for the city of Dresden. Germany is known for it’s strong Fraktur type since the middle ages, and in order to capture the history and character of the city, these letterforms are strongly influenced by Fraktur with a clean, modern style. Because of the bold, high contrast design, Sachsen is intended as a display text to increase legibility and further separate it from it’s German counterparts.
